You started with skills and a sense of direction.
A simple goal: do great work, get great clients, build a business that gives you freedom.
For a while, it worked. You found clients. You made money. You kept going.
But somewhere along the way, the path blurred. Now it feels like you’re navigating in fog.
No clear route. No steady pace. Just the pressure to keep going, no matter what.
Maybe the income looks good on paper. But it’s coming at the cost of your time, your energy, and your peace.
Maybe you’ve stopped saying yes to the wrong projects, but haven’t figured out how to attract the right ones.
Maybe your role has grown, but your business hasn’t caught up.
You’re still in motion. But movement isn’t the same as progress.

It feels like guessing because you are.
You were trained in your craft, not in running a company.
So, like most design business owners, you started piecing things together on-the-fly. Advice from Twitter threads. Trying to reverse-engineer what seems to work for others. Offers rewritten for every new inquiry. LinkedIn posts sent into the void.
It’s not that you’ve done it wrong. It’s that you’ve done it without a plan.
You’ve been walking a long road without a real guide.
And that’s not weakness. That’s endurance. But endurance without strategy will wear you down.
There is a map. A way to run your business with clarity, consistency, and calm.
Most just haven’t been shown it yet.

The path doesn’t change. You just have to choose a different one.
You keep saying yes to work that doesn’t move you forward.
You’re underpaid, overbooked, and permanently “almost there.”
Your business will keep pulling time from your life instead of giving it back.
And the longer you delay fixing it, the harder it gets to shift your momentum.
You have what it takes to go further.
But to make that journey worth it, you need a business that’s built to carry you, not the other way around.

In 2012, I worked a full-time job and freelanced nights and weekends. I made $90,000/year as a design director at a digital creative agency. The projects I did on the side were for fun, for learning, or to make a little extra cash on the side. I was lucky to be booked out for 6 months.
Esther (not her real name) came through a friend’s referral. She was an entrepreneur, with a great idea for a site she wanted to build from scratch. When we talked about her project, I reckoned it’d be a six-month effort. Given my existing work pipeline, I’d be booked for most of the year, and I didn’t want to be that locked down. Worse, what if I agreed to the project, turning down others, only to have Esther bail just before we got rolling?
So I gave her the “go away” price. You know the one. You quote some ridiculously high number that the client wouldn’t possibly pay. To sidestep the slight chance that she would, I added extra repellent. (I know I could’ve politely declined, but I hadn’t yet developed the muscle of saying no to good projects.)
I emailed Esther a “Save the Date” contract—and even sent along an addressed invoice with payment details to go along with it:

Esther never responded.
Five days later, I received a check for $7,000 in the mail.
I learned a terrific lesson that day: people will pay for things they value, no matter how wildly out of reach you might think it is.
This singular experience opened my mind to the wonderful world of pricing. It broke my brain. I couldn’t calculate an hourly or weekly rate for this. I wasn’t even spending any time on this, and I was still getting paid. There was no math here; I couldn’t figure this out on a spreadsheet. It was emotional, irrational, and perplexing. And it became the basis of how I priced every project from here on out.

I freelanced regularly for the first 8 years of my career from 2004 – 2012 on the side of having a full-time job.
From 2012 – 2022, I ran my own digital agency as the only full-time employee with a network of 700 contractors. Then I sold it in 2024.
Over the last 2 decades, I’ve learned how to make enough money to run a sustainable business, hire my friends, work with some of the most well-known brands in the world, indulge in my hobbies, and provide well for my family.

I live in a great neighborhood, travel a few times a year to eat at Michelin-star restaurants and take photos of the beautiful world, play basketball every week, and collect sneakers. I’ve designed a profitable business that allows me to do these things.
I want to show you how to do the same.

When you know exactly who you serve—and who you don’t—you stop chasing everyone around and start attracting the right prospects. Be the only one they consider. It’s simple, but it’s not easy.

price the moment
Pricing isn’t about pulling numbers from the sky. It’s about timing, expertise, positioning, and proof. Price in a way that reflects the outcomes you create for the moments your prospects are in.

Joey was stuck in the trap most freelancers know too well: the better you get, the faster you work—and the less you earn. The Make More Money program helped him fix that. He clarified his positioning, raised his prices, and landed a dream client within a week of updating his site. One mindset shift led to 30% more revenue, bigger proposals, and a long-term vision he’d never articulated before.

For Celeste, the Make More Money program didn’t just deliver sales tactics. It changed how she thinks about her business. From restructuring proposals to running sales calls more confidently, the growth has been real. The biggest differences have been deep learning, honest feedback, and a cohort full of smart, ambitious creatives all growing together.

For Gabby, the two most valuable parts of the program are Dan’s ability to reframe problems at their root and the practical, hands-on tools that follow. Whether it’s a diagram, a spreadsheet, or a live exercise, the work is always grounded in real business challenges, not just theory.
